RSTP question for the Gurus

Theory tells me that RSTP is cool because it only takes three hellos for convergence. But if my network is all
RSTP, AND I run the sh sp command it tells me that Max Age is still at 20 seconds which is 10 hellos. I would think
Max Age should be at six seconds.
Where did I go wrong?
Thanks

AwesomeGarrett Member Posts: 257In the event the neighboring switch does not negotiate for RSTP, it still needs the 802.1D timers and will use this standard for an interface that is not an edge port(portfast) or a point-to-point link(interface where RSTP was negotiated).

Heero Member Posts: 486RSTP doesn't really depend on those timers for convergence unless the RSTP switch is connecting to an STP switch.
