I just received notice from my manager that I am no longer a Tech. Support Specialist, but I've been upgraded to A Network Analyst. I wanted to pinch myself because I haven't even been in Tech. Support for even a year. I just couldn't believe it. I struggled for almost 3 years after graduation looking for an organization/company to give me a break in I.T. now that I've gotten that break, bigger and better things are happening. At the beginning of 2014 I would've never guessed this is where I would be cause I was so depressed about not being hired after countless interviews. I wanted to let others know they shouldn't give up cause I was there once too. It does get better

I also struggled to find an IT position out of college and chose to pursue a different career, then I found this forum. I also had an informal promotion early on and it makes me strive for more.2018 AWS Solutions Architect - Associate (Apr) 2017 VCAP6-DCV Deploy (Oct) 2016 Storage+ (Jan)

I understand completely how you feel. After years of trying to get my foot in the door for at least a help-desk role, I was resigned to going back to retail to save for college (and realistically, maybe getting my IT career after I'm 30 years later).
I landed a NOC support role (was originally advertised as customer care, but its morphed into a NOC Technician role during my 7 months since I've been here). The Manager took me aside last week saying that he would like me in as a NOC Engineer once a position opens up.
Years of interviews and nothing coming from it, and only so long after landing a entry level job things are moving fast. It is worth the effort, once your foot is in the door then you have made it. -

Proverbs 6:6-11Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise, Which, having no captain, Overseer or ruler, Provides her supplies in the summer, And gathers her food in the harvest. How long will you slumber, O sluggard?
When will you rise from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to sleep, So shall your poverty come on you like a prowler And your need like an armed man. -

New2ITinCali Member Posts: 184 ■■■□□□□□□□Thanks and Thank you to everyone who has congratulated me! This forum also helped me to keep my faith and to never give up. I was very frustrated, resentful and angry because I went on over 30 interviews within a 2.5 year time frame. It was a difficult time, but now I'm happier than ever! I get to work in the field that I've been so passionate about and my education is now paying off.

Cisco Inferno Member Posts: 1,034 ■■■■■■□□□□Congrats! I've never been promoted but just hopped ship here and there mainly because of a lack of a caring manager.
It seems like you have a manager who wants you to evolve into a great engineer. Take advantage of that and do not let him down!
Always let him know whats up. Thats what he/she is there for.2019 Goals
