Sorry, I have to vent. 801??? Brutal. So close.... I actually remember one of the questions that I know I answered wrong. I hit next before I realized I misread it. I was so worried I'd run out of time, but I ended up with 15 mins left. I can't retake it till the week of the 20th so I'll be brushing up on my skills until then.
Anyway, I just needed to vent and figured this would be the place to do it since a lot of you will understand my pain.
By the way, the Boson test is very similar to the actual test so if you need a testing simulator, go with Boson.

hannism Member Posts: 112I'm sorry that you fell a little short. But, on the bright side, I know you'll ace it the next time.
Out of curiosity, what did you score on the Boson test, before you took the real exam?Obtained: CompTIA Linux+ [X] CompTIA Security + [X] CCENT [X] CCNA: Routing and Switching [X] CCNA: Security [X] CCNA: Wireless [X] Linux Server Professional (LPIC-1) [X] SUSE Certified Linux Administrator [X]

ITBot Member Posts: 114 ■■■□□□□□□□I took the Boson test twice and the last time I took it which was a day before the test, I got a 806 or something close to that. So, the Boson seems like a really good accurate way to gauge your weak areas. In fact, my CCENT test report is almost spot on with the Boson test report.
I thought about rescheduling the test after getting that low boson score, but I kind of wanted to just get it over with and to see how the actual test is. I need to do a lot more troubleshooting labs. I kind of thought there would be more configuring on the test, but all the sims I had required me to troubleshoot without changing any configs. On the other hand, the test really wasn't too bad. I think I psyched myself out reading about how much tougher the Cisco tests are compared to CompTIA, but it didn't seem too difficult, I just wasn't there yet. -
Params7 Member Posts: 254I love the fact that these certification tests aren't like courses you do in a college which affect your overall GPA or some kind of Life score or something. Keep failing them till you pass it and not a soul except you needs to know
Good thing is you almost passed the thing and now you know its not so difficult. Some more practice and you're bound to clear it. Ultimately, its good that Cisco makes you really know the material for the exam, the real knowledge comes in useful in interviews. -

Codeman6669 Member Posts: 227I failed the CCENT with the same exact score you did. Studied and tested 2 weeks later and passed with 50+ more points.

look forward to your "i passed the ccent" post -
PaPaJ Member Posts: 8 ■□□□□□□□□□Sorry to hear that man. I got a 796 when I took the exam last July. I was so put out that I put studying on the back burner for a while, just start preparing for the exam again.
Thanks for the tip about the Boson exams, never knew that the offered any. I looked on their site and found the practice exams but could not find a way to order one. Do you have to down load the demo first? -

Codeman6669: Yes! I definitely should have done some more labs so that is my main focus right now. That and being able to troubleshoot with show commands only.
I'm going to be out of town most of this week so I'm going to retake it the 25th I think. -
crazboy84 Member Posts: 67 ■■□□□□□□□□I failed with an 840 in september of 2013... the test changed 2 weeks later to the current version. I let it get to me and dropped my studies and am just now taking it again next week. Dont let it get you down man, you can do it!

Thanks noahp34! I followed your link and it did not take me to a page where I could buy it, but after some more searching today (after a good nights sleep) I managed to find the store and purchase it.
Thanks again. -
[Deleted User] Senior Member Posts: 0 ■■□□□□□□□□I hear you there. That was the score when I took ICND1 my 2 times I took it. Keep at it. Sometimes Cisco will word questions in a horrible manner (especially NAT questions imo). I wouldn't invest in practice exams as they are not the real thing. Now that you know how the test is, I say work on your commands and subnetting. Practice looking at router config output and doing things that way similar to how the exam was. Ex: Have some pre-made running-config outputs and make conclusions based on that (password for login is weak etc.) Try that and see how that works. Maybe someone you work with can make some running-configs for you to analyze or analyze the configs where you work at. That is what helped me since I knew what it was like taking ICND1 2 times. It will help with speed and accuracy on the test. Best of luck dude! I have vouchers for sale if you want them $125 per voucher.

ITBot Member Posts: 114 ■■■□□□□□□□Finally retook the exam today and I passed with a 933! I actually had 45 mins left for the exam as well! I got almost the exact sims as the first test so I was more than ready this time. On to part 2!
