Just got back from taking the Server+ Beta Exam (SK1-004) and I thought I'd go over some of the topics to study for.
- UPS. Lots of questions regarding phases, voltages, AC vs DC
- Hard Drives. Know the types of drives, controllers, and components like types of caches
- Server Racks. Know the Us, how to figure out the inches ( U# x 1.75 )
- Ethernet. Lots of questions regarding cable types, CATs, and maximum length
- RAID. I was led to believe there would be a ton of questions on RAID, but honestly there weren't that many. Just know the basics like minimum disks, fault tolerance, and space. I've included the info I used at the bottom.
For $50 I'm glad I took it, even though I only had a week to study. Now I just have to play the waiting game, most likely until next year, to find out if I passed!
