I got my hands on a free G5 and got 4x480GB SSDs ... Now I see that the Mac doesn't support more than two drives so I found all sorts of SATA cards. Including whole packages ('Jive') which add a whole cage to the G5 to add more disks.
Cage aside, does anyone know what SATA card can be used when the OS will be FreeBSD 8 rather than OSX ?
I don't have any experience with MACs so I am not sure what the "deal" is .. I don't need to boot from the SATA card as the G5 still got two 250GB drives so I can boot from them and simpy use the 4 SSDs as storage ...
Most google hits end up in cards unavailable now ... Any hints / tips (and links) would be appreciated.

Out of curiosity, why BSD 8 ?
BSD 10.1 is available or alternatively FreeNAS or NAS4FREE use BSD 9 and just make the NAS Process in BSD a lot easier to managehttp://www.darvilleit.com - a blog I write about IT and technology.
