What is spanning tree protocol and how it's works in switching layer 2 and layer 3?

Tell us what you think it is and how it works. We will then help you fill in the gaps.

Don't worry, we promise not to judge you.icon_thumright.gif

Well I will give you a hint. It prevents layer 2 switching loops by putting ports into certain states and exchanges frames called BPDUs. Until there is a solid effort on the OPs part, I don't think anyone else will give any effort to help.

I think that I shall never see
A graph more lovely than a tree.
    A tree whose crucial property
    Is loop-free connectivity.
A tree that must be sure to span
So packets can reach every LAN.
First, the root must be selected.
    By ID, it is elected.
Least-cost paths from root are traced.
In the tree, these paths are placed.
A mesh is made by folks like me,
Then bridges find a spanning tree.

Kind of sounds like they are looking for answers to a homework assignment they are taking in a class.
