AWS or VPC-CMA

Am I wrong to think that AWS Sysadmins are a little too specialized? I am interested in doing Sysadmin for cloud computing/virtualization but when I look at AWS platform admins in my area(Bay Area, CA), not much results come up. VMware would probably be more popular and more jobs available for administrators or no?

I know AWS is very popular is my area.

I've seen a lot of specialized Cloud/AWS Admins in the NYC area. In the DC area I see a lot of Sys Admin/DevOps positions with AWS experience required/preferred.
    Goals for 2018:
Certs: RHCSA, LFCS: Ubuntu, CNCF CKA, CNCF CKAD | AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Solutions Architect Pro, AWS Certified Security Specialist, GCP Professional Cloud Architect
Learn: Terraform, Kubernetes, Prometheus & Golang | Improve: Docker, Python Programming
    To-do | In Progress | Completed

It isn't just about what is popular now, but what will be popular in the future.... but hey, two skills are better than one.

I think it depends on what size company (or companies) you're going to be dealing with. I think small-medium businesses are really falling in love with the AWS pricing tier and going with that solution, while larger enterprises will be sticking with VMware based private clouds. I don't think either one is back to have though.
