Technical Writing

Anyone been contracted for technical writing? What do you charge? What kind of writing? The only advice I could find on the I-net is around the $6-10 per 500 words. At that payout it is not even worth my thinking of writing.

Shdwmage Member Posts: 374I could make some serious bankroll on 500 words. It would take me 5-6 minutes to type that. 8 to 10 an hour $48 - $100. I would do it if I was cash strapped.--

Plus there is proofreading, and ensuring that you're engaging and using good grammar, that's a lot for 6 dollars. I can pound out 1000 words in minutes but producing quality writing takes longer.Read my blog @ www.buildingautomationmonthly.com

Danielm7 Member Posts: 2,310 ■■■■■■■■□□Those rates sound like what my friend pays for outsourced SEO article writing. Usually by people outside the US who spin articles that already exist. I can't imagine a real tech writer charging that. FWIW I sit next to a very green tech writer just out of college, I believe she makes around $20/hr and she has 0 technical experience at all. I'd expect to pay an experienced researcher with strong tech skills significantly more.
