Creating Work Notes

I want to create on-the-job notes. I'll probably primarily fill it w/ command syntax and examples - something like a cookbook of commands I might need in the future.
Does anyone have any good suggestions on a tool to use for that? Looking for something offline that's good for test as well as code and is easily searchable. Possibly something better than just keeping a long MS Word document.

For both school notes and work notes, I've been really tempted to buy one of these Rocketbooks.

The ability to write out the notes, upload them to something like Dropbox or Evernote, and then reuse the notebook really appeals to me. -

If you want to write your notes, the hardbound notebooks are awesome! I use an orange one with fixes, tips, best practices info, etc. that can't be found in books. Stuff I discover over time.
I've got a terrible notebook problem and have stacks of stuff I haven't even used yet. I just prefer to hand-write most of my stuff and throw in my shoulder bag.
Man, these notebooks with these pens are great!

I convinced my wife to let me buy one, and then I realized I really don't need one and it would be a waste of money.Read my blog @ www.buildingautomationmonthly.com

I used to use Pilot G2s, but since I learned about the Pilot v5 RTs, I won't use anything else - by far my favorite pen to use.philz1982 wrote:I convinced my wife to let me buy one, and then I realized I really don't need one and it would be a waste of money.
I can definitely understand that it may only have specialized uses. I take a lot of notes while sitting at my desk, and I would use it some for that. For the most part, I'll be using it for when I help some friends of mine with Chemistry/Biology, being able to easily write out formulas and structures without needing to awkwardly draw in MSPaint or use specialized software. I will just be able to set it up to scan and email directly to them.
Though, that's not to say I won't be using it for basic network diagrams, general brainstorming, and other things as well. -

Oh god yes! I majored in molecular biology & biochemistry, and could never decide if I wanted to take paper notes (and then only have them on random sheets of paper, without an easy option to stick them on my computer or share them with friends), or type them up in class and miss out on the diagrams. -
OptionsJasiono Member Posts: 896 ■■■■□□□□□□Uni Ball Vision Elite is my choice of pen. Super smooth, no pressure needed.
Only thing that sucks though is that I'm a lefty so I have to write in a way where my hand doesn't glide across what I just wrote, otherwise I end up with a blue hand lol -
OptionsDoubleNNs Member Posts: 2,015 ■■■■■□□□□□I'm going to give OneNote a try for a few weeks.
But ideally I'd love something simpler.
I'm currently primarily using a Mac. I'd like close to plain text files but the ability to do code highlighting.
I might look into Markdown and figure out how to customize/program apps like nvALT ( nvALT - BrettTerpstra.com ) or Marked ( Marked 2 - Smarter tools for smarter writers ).Goals for 2018:
