HSRP - Maximum number of groups?
whizzer
Per the title, what is the correct answer for exam purposes? I'm study up for 200-101 and I'm getting conflicting answers. The OCG says 16. Some practice tests say 255. Some online references say 16, some say 255. I tested this on my lab router and I can add more than 16. Some other answers say you can have 16 groups on 16 interfaces for a total of 256. Some say you can have 255, because you can use a number from 1 to 255.

Hmm this is a very hardware defendant question. There are all different limits per platform as far as unique group IDs, interfaces that can have an FHRP configured etc. I haven't seen many questions on Cisco exams I can remember that have that much of a hardware dependence, but I'd probably stick with what the OCG says for testing purposes.
