Should I sign an NDA before my very first interview?

I applied for a Senior Operations Engineer and a Sr. Desktop role.

They want me to sign an NDA before the first interview.

Should I do this? I've applied for many jobs and usually NDA comes after an offer or the first interview.

What is your hesitation? If I was going to have somebody sign one prior to an interview I would NEVER give the interview until it was signed. I've signed them prior to interviews...not that big of a deal. Especially if you are going on site you are likely to see something that should stay internal.

I wouldn't have a problem with an NDA. I assume you'll likely be exposed to some internal info. Just a CYA type thing for them. Maybe read it over to make sure nothing crazy is in there.

When I was in law enforcement they had us sign an NDA prior to the oral board. It was meant as a legal way to stop you from telling people what questions you were asked. It's no big deal, sign it and move on ;)

an update, I declined to sign the NDA. They still interviewed me. The interview actually went pretty well. We'll see how it goes for round #2.

When I worked in purchasing I saw NDA pretty commonly during interviews. It usually involved when when some kind of internal process is revealed or discussed in the interview.

Again I don't really see why you are fighting it so much?

a better question is: "Do you really want the job?"

Bad move to decline signing the NDA. There is no valid reason for doing so as it's only a contract to prevent you from exposing proprietary information to external parties. This would be a big red flag to me if I was interviewing someone.
