Getting network admin job

Hi,
Do you think working at desktop support will have a chance to get into network admin job? I'm working a mid-size company, the pay is okay and the workload is low. I apply many places, but none of them call. Any suggestion how to change it?

Just keep applying.
Work on your skills and improve your resume. Eventually someone will take a chance on you.
Wouldn't hurt to get some networking certs. Doesn't have to only be Cisco or Juniper either.. I can see storage or Linux certs being helpful, or maybe a Windows MCTS in Network Config

Linkedin, Linkedin, and Linkedin some more. Find every job recruiter you can on Linkedin and add them, then go through their connections and add them as well, but make sure your linkedin is in shape as well.

I got one job completely randomly on their that got my foot firmly into my current position working on firewalls / routers / switches / all sorts of servers / telephony from a random message on Linkedin. Now I got flooded with network jobs weekly on their from recruiters.

Another vote for LinkedIn and acquiring some networking certs along the way will definitely help enhance your resume and skillset.

What else do you have to do on LinkedIn besides just adding recruiters? I'm assuming recruiters just won't hit you up with job offers after adding them, or am I wrong?

They will actually. Maybe people will have better advice, but I get offers even from recruiters I've never added by not doing anything other than keeping my profile up to date.

LinkedIn is a good strategy, but also realize that the recruiters will probably contact you with other Help Desk positions based on your resume. The solution? Get at least a CCNA R&S, that way you'll be noticed by recruiters and will have a good argument for applying for Jr. Network Admin / NOC type roles.
