What in the world in this error?

So this morning I turned on my cluster, yes I know it's 6 am. I'm a early bird. I had a dream about my lab and woke up and turned the spaceship on...

So I seem to have this "%error opening tftp://255.255.255.255", and I remember from my reading that basically the router sending out a broadcast looking for a tftp server.... but I don't recall ever setting up that function before in the past. I might have copied the flash to a tftp server but never intentional set one up for the router to pull from...

What interesting to me is the other 2600 router, a near exact twin doesn't have this issue....

Lastly I remember from my exam, their was something in regards to a controller, not going into major detail but what things from the show controller for say interface serial 0/1 should I know if I get an output? ....IE the difference between a DTE and a DCE....

I think the error is because the file at tftp://255.255.255.255 can't be read. It's looking for the files at that location so there are either no files in that location or it can't communicate with that tftp server.

Try doing a 'no service config' and then reloading should solve it.

I did a quick google search and it seems the 'service config' command is disabled by default unless you have either no NVRAM or incomplete NVRAM.

ya I don't recall this anywhere in my CCENT/CCNA books so I was like well what are the Cisco gods throwing at me today, is this a test? O.o

And see the NVRAM thing popped into my head hence why above instead of doing my lazy man's 'wr' I did the full on 'copy running-config startup-config' thinking that somehow the NVRAM wasn't in sync with the RAM but upon reload it made no change so I was like huh....

So now this is fraking weird, this config was working fine last Saturday, but for some bloody reason a serial link was off. I was like WTF why is there only 5 routes! ...there is 6 OSPF routes.... somehow the clock was off on the DCE O.o

below I was disconnecting the problem child link, hence the up/downs and I was wha the frig....

So I seem to have this "%error opening tftp://255.255.255.255", and I remember from my reading that basically the router sending out a broadcast looking for a tftp server.... but I don't recall ever setting up that function before in the past. I might have copied the flash to a tftp server but never intentional set one up for the router to pull from..

Maybe the flash is failing on your router?

Plan on upgrading to 2901's soon though and all 2960G's and 3750G's since I like Gigabit more and I want to use my Cisco lab for the VCAP5-DCA pursuit and use CDP which integrates amazingly with VMware on the vSwitches and vDS's.

There's a method to my madness of all my hardware and the path I'm taking for the certifications.

I am not familiar with the 2600 series, can you replace the flash? If you don't want to specifically shell the money for a 2900, the 2800s work very well (I have a mix of 2811 and 2821 in my lab).
