Finishing A+ / System Administration

I'm currently finishing the A+ certification, and originally wanted to take the networking route, but I've chosen the System Administration route, instead. I believe I'm going to forego Network+. What would you recommend for the System Administration route. MCSA?

Honestly, I say go for your network + or at less learn the material. It will help towards your goal. MCSA and VCP are definitely system administration certs.

Okay, so there
is
a lot of material on Network+ that will benefit System Administration? I'm somewhat new to the certification process, but I've already completed 220-801.

You could always buy the Network+ book but skip the certification.
For Sys Admin, MCSA or Linux+/RHCSA would be good starts, depending on preference.

CompTIA has a career pathways site with information regarding many different certs. This may or may not help you, but it's worth taking a look at. They also have a downloadable PDF depicting many different certification paths.

As far as the "average salary" stuff goes, take that with a grain of salt and rely on your own research.

you can start with MCSA then MCSE, you need also to master virtualization (servers, desktops,apps..). You might take ccna so you have a strong networking knowledge.

You definitely should have a good idea of networking. You don't want to be the sys admin that says, "Well my DHCP server works, but there's something wrong with the network. No clue what, but that's your job". At least basic knowledge on how the services and roles your work on get from point A to point B and familiarity with the OSI model.

I would go down the Cisco line, start with INCD1 & INCD2, & CCNA. it would still benefit you to take the network +

Net + or CCNA is fine. I would go net + for general depth. To be a system admin you will need the net + knowledge at the least and it correates with the MCSA. The CCNA is a great cert to have and it will give you exposure to switching and routing.
