This thread may be moved to general certifications....

To my understanding these certifications would be a good companion for your learning but not really used by HR to sort you out of the pile to be thrown away.

For example there is a Cisco Network Design... not CCDA.
Check Point has a Firewall-1 Administration and not CCSA.

The vendors may have blessed the training program(s) but you do not get any acronyms after your name, just a certificate that you passed the exam(s).
Some of this stuff is rather old as well. NetWare 4.11 ... WOW. IPX for ALL!!!!

I actually can't believe they're still around. They must have figured out a niche market, like internal training, recruiting, or something.

I got like 15 of their free certs early 2000's, to include some kind of nursing assistant certification just for fun. I've never seen any employer ever seek out Brainbench certified candidates.

Oh man, I also have a bunch of their early "certs". Although the certificates looked very nice, value was (and I am sure still is) near ZERO.

YEP! I got them when they still mailed out printed paper FOIL STAMPED certificates. I put them up in my cubicle because I thought it was funny that they had no value, but looked way more "official" than my Microsoft certificates.

But to Microsoft's credit, they did send me a lapel pin and a membership card. lol

So this wouldn't help trying to get a basic help desk position

No. The ROI is low or zero. This organization has no accreditation.

You are better off obtaining CompTia A+, Network+, Server+ certifications.
You may also want to go get CCNA and/or Microsoft certs as well.

What? My Windows 98 BrainBench cert has no value? Guess I need to remove it from my resume.
