IT security Capstone

bigbenhotnessbigbenhotness Member Posts: 25 ■□□□□□□□□□
So my technical writing proposal just got approved. I will be starting the capstone process. I am working on a fabricated project. If anyone has any tips, or how the formatting should go in converting from the proposal to the capstone, I would greatly appreciate it. After the capstone all I have to finish is the CCNA security that I am working on and I finally graduate.

The capstone paper builds directly off of the technical writing proposal. The two papers will be very, very similar. You basically just continue where you left off, change the wording of some sections (future tense to past or present tense), and fill in any missing sections that the rubric requires.

I found the technical writing proposal to be the bulk of the project, and completed the capstone within about a week. I believe my technical writing paper ended up being about 24 pages and the capstone was like 32 pages or so.

    Good luck!

I just went through my tech writing and changed the tense, modified some dates and added a few pages and I was done. I submitted that same day I got my tech writing back but of course taskscream gives vague feedback so took me a couple of times. It didn't take much time at all to do, just took time waiting for it to get through the queues.
  • bigbenhotnessbigbenhotness Member Posts: 25 ■□□□□□□□□□
so basically convert to past tense and add in some additions such as technical documents, and whatever the rubric requires? That means the technical writing was the harder part.
  • markulousmarkulous Member Posts: 2,394 ■■■■■■■■□□
Tech writing by far was the harder part. For the project timeline section, I just adjusted one of those dates stating the seller we were going through didn't have the hardware in stock so that extended it. And I briefly wrote about that. Capstone is fairly easy in comparison.

Would it be possible if you can pm me the before and after of your report? Not copying it obviously, just want to know what formatting they are looking for, rather than turn it in (vague response) turn it in(vague response) repeat lol.

    Thanks again

Yup pretty much!! I am submitting my Technical Writing soon and have completed my Capstone so submitting them to TaskStream soon. Hopefully, they pass. :)

I should be done by the end of next month. Ideally I would like to have them passed before I leave for Japan but likely will have to make revisions when I get back. icon_lol.gif

If I can help at all let me know via PM or email.

    Good luck to all!!

Dang... my CS capstone was 70something pages lol
    meh

lol, 70 pages is not unheard of. I think the award-winning capstones in the Academic Capstone Archives are about that length or longer.

I remember asking the course mentor what was the shortest capstone he ever saw submitted and pass, and he said something like 13 pages. At that point I was like, "screw it, I'm not gonna kill myself over trying writing a book."

I'm writing enough to demonstrate excellence and understanding. At the same time I just want to get it done and not write too much but just enough so I can take a break before starting my Master's degree. ;)

I had to write so much =\

That is what I'm hoping!! Luckily I have already written pretty much all of the content. I was working on both the Technical Writing and Capstone simultaneously so I just need to add them all into one paper. I also did some diagrams and drawings to complement my project deliverables. ;)

    So ready to graduate!! icon_cheers.gif

Quick question, anyone know if you're graded on grammar, punctuation, etc on the tech writing and capstone? Obviously it needs to be readable but I'm hoping you're not held to the same standard as an English course.
