Passed SY0-401 Security +
After many months of procrastinating I finally set up a date to take the test. I then studied in earnest.
I started out using the WGU provided LABSIM. I had a hard time staying awake and I thought in
some area's was a little more geared toward a the SCCP than the Security +. A little too in depth.
I ended up using Darril Gibson's book, and his online premium site. I
also used https://www.cybrary.it/course/comptia-security-plus/ to clear up some
areas and www.examcompass.com. Examcompass had a real good quiz for malware and port quiz.
If I had to pick one study resource and one only it would be Darril Gibson's. His premium site really prepared me for the performance based questions. Total actual study time was 2 weeks with no prior security experience other than what you get with the CCNA.
I was shocked when the final score showed a 894..

Hey eddie174. Congrats on the pass and the amazing score. An 894 out of a 900. Wow. That's almost a perfect score. A couple of questions. You stated that you used the Darril Gibson's book. Did the book come with any CD or DVD of any kind? How many chapters does it the book contain? I keep reading from others that the Darril Gibson book is highly recommended to study from in preparation for the Security+ exam. Let me know. Once again, congrats on the pass.
