    I wouldn't renew my CompTIA certs as the overall value or ROI at this stage in my career wouldn't add anything to my resume now. Luckily mine are all for life. ;)

    I let my A+ expire because it no longer has any value to me. I have a Security+ that doesn't expire but I will probably be taking the newer CE one. They do have some use especially if you are working for the fed or on federal contracts.

    Just like you, my Sec+ do not expire.
    Another alternative is to take CASP; CompTIA will award both CASP and Sec+ CE to you.

    I think you can just pay to convert a lifelong CompTIA to a CE cert, instead of [re]taking an exam.
    Goals for 2018:
    Certs: RHCSA, LFCS: Ubuntu, CNCF CKA, CNCF CKAD | AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Solutions Architect Pro, AWS Certified Security Specialist, GCP Professional Cloud Architect
    Learn: Terraform, Kubernetes, Prometheus & Golang | Improve: Docker, Python Programming
    To-do | In Progress | Completed

    @DoubleNNs, not according to CompTIA:
    If you hold a GFL (good for life) certification and did not enroll in the CE Program prior to December 31, 2012, you have two options to enter the CE Program:
    1. Pass the current version of the exam. You’ll then own two certifications – your GFL certification and your CE certification.
    2. Achieve a higher level CompTIA certification. By doing so you will also earn CE certification(s) for any lower level GFL certification(s) you hold.

    So I can take the Storage+ or CASP like Mike7 said and I will get the CE version of the Security+.

    My A+, Net+, and Sec+ are lifetime. I have no inclination to take another Comptia Exam.

    I seem to not be able to let mine go, I'm always getting something new that renews them again. sooner or later I'll run out of stuff to renew them automatically and then I'll need to decide if CEU's are worth it...hopefully by then I'll have higher cerfications, but I may just keep them current just because...

    My Sec+ expires in December. I have an A+ grandfathered in so it doesnt expire. I also have project+ which has no expire either. I just dont want to continue with the CEs and I hate taking tests to begin with so I wouldnt want to do it again. I would probably still list it on a resume but put expired. Some of the stuff is out of date but some of it, the core principals, will be applicable.
