Hi Guys i'm new to the forum and after surfing this forum for a while i decided to join up. A lot of you really now what your talking about.

Basically i currently work in a completely different field to I.T but have always had a passion for it and recently decided to give it ago. A friend of mine mentioned doing the above course to kick start my career in I.T; The issue is after reading through so much on this forum im slightly confused, there seems to be so many MTA and SQL courses about- im hoping to eventually do some contracting work as a DBA but not sure exactly which courses i needed to take to get qualified.

can someone give me a heads up on what i need to do/which exams to take?

also, if anybody has done the above exam do you mind sharing how its benefited you?

Regards

MOE

I took the course and took the test(It is one test) 98-364. You can take it online via the Microsoft course or take a class (usually a 3 day course). It went rather well (I passed the first time!). I needed that cert for my job.

Thanks for the reply. What job is it that you needed it for if you don't mind me asking?

Sys Admin/DBA - government contractor. I had to take it and pass it the first month I was here since the last person who was in the same position failed it (he was given 6 months to take and pass). I love pressure. ha

With what Database? oracle? Microsoft? Are you in a job now that you can learn? You can download a free version of SQL server via Microsoft and practice. What networks have you used?

Go SQL Server 2014 | Microsoft Take it for a spin. Join database forums and see what people are talking about. Also, check out microsoft's different exams and read the descriptions.

Im definitely interested but just not sure which route to take. If i was to do this course where would i stand after its completion in terms of career prospects or further courses/training?

It's a very entry-level certification but none the less it will teach out a lot about the basics. I recommend this course and exam.

Thanks for the reply Carl, based on your certifications you seem to be very qualified in what you do. If you dont mind me asking what is it that you currently do?

I will be starting my revision today for this exam, once completed would i be in any sort of position to apply for anything- even just a basic role to get some experience?

From your experience what would i need to do next in terms of course to get myself some sort of valued credentials to take up employment?

    Thanks Again
