I just wanted to post this here, as its the type of topic that I can share with co-workers and people in my social circle wont really get. I applied for a position a week ago with a small hospital near where I live. I passed the phone screen a few days after the resume was submitted.
This morning I had a 2 hour onsite interview with IT manager, "possible co-worker", IT Director and HR Director. 1 Hour was typical HR/social/personality stuff. 1 hour was technical in nature, I felt I really did well here (able to expand on answers quickly, provided alternative insights to scenarios, etc....).
After the interview the IT manager pulled me aside and started showing me around; data center, campus design, short term projects, long term projects, introduced me to a few more people...
This felt like the antithesis of a "terrible" interview. They said they have 3-4 more interviews to do and wont make a decision until early November. I am excited about this simply because I would get some great exposure to L3 protocols and enterprise level switching along with CUCM and VMware and the healthcare environment in general.
At any rate, my gloating is done! I feel its important to mention that the CCNA got my resume pulled out of the pile. The IT manager said they are almost pure Cisco and wants someone to "train up" in Cisco cucm management and switching so he can rest easier on vacation.
My salary "requirement" was modest for the area, but 25% over what I make now. I will be losing a company car, phone, ipad and all bonuses but will still be 25% further ahead. I just have to wait and see how much haggling they try to do with that.
In summation:

yay...I will be real excited if this comes through.
