Was the VCDX path there before as selection ? Don't think I have seen that before ...

Edit: Oh yea - didn't they say VCDX now becomes vExpert automatically ?

As of about March/April this year they added VCDX as an automatic vExpert. (Which obviously grew the numbers a bit more)

Not totally true. They still need to apply like everyone else to be nominated (basically they will be awarded vExpert status, just need to apply)

I have applied, have you guys done so too?

    Working on: RHCE/Ansible
Future: Probably continued Red Hat Immersion, Possibly VCAP Design, or maybe a completely different path. Depends on job demands...

Hey who doesn't like free licensing.... I do, allows me to break stuff without a end-user screaming!

Random question: Is this really a designation you get for posting a lot? Just curious. One of my good buddies who is the lead instructor at VMWare mentioned that.

pretty much, I think pretty much everyone that posts on a daily basis on here qualifies for vExpert. You have a Blog too Katherine, heck Rob Riker got vExpert too and he's a CCIE. It had nothing to do with the referral he used of me. But you can use anyone on here. icon_wink.gif

I like being a vExpert since I speak at the NYC/NJ/Albany VMUG meetings and being a VCP and vExpert makes people recognize you, it's pretty kool having people come up to you randomly and ask me questions and like 'hey are you on techexams' and I'd be like maybe... and then small talk continues from there...

Plus is very handy to get licensing for a year and yearly membership for online training.

It's possible to get without a vmware cert?

I feel like I missed the boat this year but wgu's dreamspark has me covered for most through December. I actually think I received more monetarily through wgu then my tuition.

There are a few ways to earn it, the main idea is to recognise those that make a significant contribution to the virtualization community (Not just VMware related, but mostly).

Contributions aren't just from blogging or posting in forums, but can also be from presenting on a regular basis at a local VMUG or podcasts, etc. The key is to be regular at it. I haven't blogged as much over the last year or so, but I am covered as I am a VMUG leader and present at the event.
This is generally referred to as the "Evangelist" track.

There is also the track for Customers and VCDXs.

Apart from the recognition from VMware, you do get some goodies from vendors who thank you for your contributions.

Actually whilst I post on my own website, I always went a different route, mainly customer or partner.
