I am. I'm using the usual channels of indeed, dice and some linkedin. Perhaps my location sucks(FL). I'd really like to move, but I can see that as being a challenge.

Florida sucks when it comes to the IT job department, i am in florida i know, i got lucky with the job i have now, i do get calls from time to time though for work, what kind of experience do you have and what type of work are you looking for ?

Have you not gotten any calls at all, maybe your resume needs work

All things you have to look for.

The issue isn't my resume, but the lack of jobs to apply to in the area. I'd figure a CCNA, couple VCP's, and MCSA 2012 and about 8 years experience would be worth something. I get a fair amount of calls but it isn't in what I'd like to specialize in. Most of those jobs are out of state or taken.

I don't think now is a good time to find jobs, most likely you would be filling up vacancy of ex employees, you would not want to end up working for a company that people want to move out of it. The best time for job hunts is usually after the companies financial year, where new budgets will be release for projects. Big companies usually had their financial year ends between April to July, henceforth these are the best months to look for jobs. You may also have good chance of finding jobs between Jan to Apr as well since some companies do have their financial year ends on those months.

Example of coke financial year annual release reports, check the release date. http://www.coca-colacompany.com/investors/annual-other-reports/

I second that ^ April to July best time to get hired, I got hired during that time period for all of my IT jobs. You may also want to try Georgia perhaps? Like the Atlanta area.

Where are you in Florida? I am in Northwest Florida and have been searching for 8 months. I get plenty of offers out of state but I really dont want to move as my AF Reserve unit is here and so is my wife's family. I am hoping for more luck after the holidays.
