Hello. Been lurking on this site for a while now and wanted to ask a question regarding skills tests during interviews. I'm sure some of you have been through them. What could I expect in regards to a Sys Admin skills test?
I'm sure they can be quite different depending on the company.

I would expect maybe some troubleshooting scenarios related to Active Directory, Group Policy, domain controllers, and so forth. If it's a Linux based environment perhaps some configuration questions relating to a particular OS such as Red Hat, Cent OS, etc..
You might be asked about scripting/automation knowledge in Powershell as many roles in Systems Administration prefer this skill or it's highly sought after.

Couple examples:
You notice that your SQL query has started to go slow how would you troubleshoot?
SharePoint has stopped working and no one can access the site, how would you go about getting the site back up asap70-410 [x] 70-411 [x] 70-462[x] 70-331[x] 70-332[x]

The job sounds awesome so I want to do really well in the interview. The job description lists what software/apps they use so I'm just doing a little research on some of them I don't know.

Justin- Member Posts: 300Yup that's a great idea. I did the same as well for my current job. I would google software products that my company uses and try to understand how they work. As Dakinggamer87 said, make sure you research the company as well! Also, don't forget to ask questions and send a thank you email/letter after the interview is done!
Good luck! -
