Are my Salary expectations reasonable?

I'm applying for a network engineer position in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. I have 10 years experience, bachelors degree in business, CCNA routing and security. network plus and security plus with a couple of fiber certs. The position requires a 50 hour work week and being on call 5 times a year for a week at a time. I am asking $115k. I believe this in line with my skill set and the going rate in the area. I am just curious as to what others think.

I think you are okay with that.

But it will take time to land a job, it's not likely that you will land on your first attempt. But after, say, 5-15 interviews it's possible, I'd say...

I just separated from the military and had problems with salary requirements. I didn't want to sell myself short. I found this website and it really helped me out a lot.

That seems pretty reasonable for the DFW area. You have a some good certifications to your name plus the practical experience to back it up, so you shouldn't receive too much push back for that salary range. That being said, with that salary, you may find yourself in a managerial role pretty soon...

Well if 50 a week is "REQUIRED" then you really aren't making 115K per year. More like 92K per year. The standard work week is 40 hours a week. Sure depending on your position and what's going on sometime you may be need to work more, but "requiring" 50 hours every single week is something totally different.

Having said that, 115K for 50/hours a week which average out to about 92K per year seems about right. Although you could find network engineers positions that pay more for 10+ years of experience if you really wanted to.
