NASA will be accepting applications for those who want to be astronauts or want to be part of the next space missions. Information can be found below. It does not hurt if you have some degrees in Biology, engineering, math or computer science or if you are a doctor or a pilot. Last time there were 6000 applicants and only 8 got selected so I'm sure we have some geniuses here at TE that can defy the odds.

    Doesn't look like most people would qualify "Candidates also must have at least three years of related, progressively responsible professional experience, or at least 1,000 hours of pilot-in-command time in jet aircraft". I don't think I can say that working at a help desk is related to piloting a space mission.

    I would have disagreed after a hard day when I was working as a helpdesk coordinator!

    Airline pilots would probably have a better chance than just about anyone that's nonmilitary on the flight requirement alone. Airline pilots are also used to following exacting checklists under duress and have some form of technological background given the complexity of most commercial airliners.

    What will the selectee's have in common you ask? Military fighter pilots with a Masters degree or higher in engineering, physics, etc...
