Portion of this coming year will be spent up-keeping my certs.

I need 20x CPE for Wireshark WCNA
Got my CWNA coming up for expiration in July. May go CWAP or CWSP, CWAP seems more interesting though.

Still gotta finish my CCNP Wireless though.

Maybe some Voice / Collab work depending on work projects. Been slacking on studying these last few months, messing around with Python too much lately.

    CCIE: Security Written ~ Feb/Mar
    CCIE: Security Lab ~ September

Beyond that I am not sure yet, but that'll do for now. Maybe toss in the SP written for the end of '16 as well.

I didn't complete any of my 2015 goals but I did obtain the GSEC and kept pushing through my MSISA (the biggest reason I didn't complete any of my goals). I would have my GCIA too but it looks like Jan 8th is when I'm taking it unless I can put in crazy hours studying the next 3 weeks.

For 2016 I'm keeping it easier:

    GCIA (Taking exam January 8th)
GCIH (Doing Work Study Jan 25th, take exam by March 1st)
    CISM (June)

That's all I'm putting on the schedule for certs. Anything else is bonus.

    Non-cert goals:

Complete my MSISA by March 1st.
    Learn Python
Have: CISSP, CISM, CISA, CRISC, eJPT, GCIA, GSEC, CCSP, CCSK, AWS CSAA, AWS CCP, OCI Foundations Associate, ITIL-F, MS Cyber Security - USF, BSBA - UF, MSISA - WGU
Currently Working On: Python, OSCP Prep
    Next Up: OSCP
Studying: Code Academy (Python), Bash Scripting, Virtual Hacking Lab Coursework

I didn't take a single exam in 2015. Here are my goals for 2016:

    AWS Solution Architect - Professional
    AWS SysOps - Associate
    Renew my MCSE: Messaging

I only see a few of you with cloud computing certs in your goals for next year. I was surprised at how few badges at re:Invent had 'AWS Certified' on them. With announcements from Accenture that they are training 1000 AWS consultants and certifying 500 of them, and HP training 5000 Azure architects, I would expect to see more of you joining me on the cloud bandwagon next year.

(ISC)2's CCSP, AWS Solution Architect, and MCSD:Azure on my dream list, but I will say that based on me not obtaining a single item that was on my list for this year, I left them off. But I definitely have them on my radar.

From my 2015 goals of doing RHCSA, CCSA, CCNA:Security & CCDA, I only accomplished CCNA:Security. I did do Linux+/LPIC-1, complete the last exam of MCSA:2008, CEH & EJPT though, so I'm still happy about what I did over the year.

For 2016, I'm planning to renew upgrade MCSA:7 to 8, renewing my CompTIA certs with CASP (slowly preparing for CISSP), renew my VCP-DCV and hopefully get RHCSA as well. I would also like to do ECPPT & OSCP if time allows me.

These threads are so cosy in the beginning when you put down your goals, then get increasingly discomforting as the year ends and all you did was procrastinate.

    First post!
    icon_cheers.gif

Changing jobs this month from a light-IT job with some network experience and a lot of Point of Sale IT experience, into a job where i'll be dabbling in a lot of desktop support, mixed with network and server, and a good bit of mobility support. I should be getting a lot of hands-on to supplement my desire to get certs, and i've already started studying for A+ to help transition quicker.

    2016 goals:

    A+ (Jan)
    Net+ (Feb/Mar)
    Sec+ (Apr)
MCSA Win 7 (Jun) - Might take 70-680 earlier, possibly along with A+ or during Net+ studying.

    Possibles:
MCSA Server '08 or '12 depending on what my next job uses most.
MCSA Office 365 (Heavy use by my future company deploying this to their clients) - Might just pick up a 365 Admin book in lieu of a cert.
    CCNA R&S & CCNA Sec
Mobility+ or something like CWNA, depending on the level of knowledge needed on mobility side.

I hope writing this helps me hold myself accountable, i've wanted to get into certs for over a year but never committed like I am now.

Also WGU in the future, possibly after the CompTIA trio so I can skip some classes.

    Cheers all!
    2016 Goals
    Jan: A+, Feb: Net+, Mar: Sec+, Apr: 70-680
    May: Start WGU BS-IT SEC

2016 for me is going to consist of:

working on my MSc (hopefully gain MSc by 2017)
    AME (access data mobile examiner)

I doubt i'll get time for this, but i'd love to get the CHFI, but might have to get that after I complete my MSc.

It depends on what I don't get done this year.

For my development plan, I am supposed to get a Lync exam completed this year, so I am cramming to get 70-336 done. I would also like to get 70-417 completed to get upgraded to to Windows Server 2012 and round out my MCSE: Messaging (I already have 70-341 and 70-342 completed). Outside of that, I wouldn't mind just doing the MCSA: Office 365. So, my plan for this year is 70-336 and 70-417, with 70-337 as a stretch.

So, for next year, it will be 70-337 (if I don't get it done this year), and a stretch for 70-346 and 70-347.

I have had a very hard time getting back into certification lately. 2010/2011 were binge years for me and then I did my MS in 2010-2012, so no certifications were done in 2012... and then I tried nothing again until this year. I did 70-341 early in the year and then finally knocked out 70-342 last month.

At this point, I am counting on the MS Virtual Academy route to be available for the 2016 products for recertification. I have 28 certification exams under my belt and I think that I am finally getting over it. Just doing 70-417 and Lync will get me over 30 exams. I used to think the CPE game was silly, but I welcome it more and more now.

Oh so true! Cozy when you post them but then it's like "What? It's June already and I haven't even gone through chapter 3?!".
I actually did not procrastinate this year, worked hard on my RHCSA exam, unfortunately did not pass, but I got valuable experience and built a solid foundation. I am knocking off both RHCSA and RHCE 2016, that's not even a question. As of now, I am inkling towards adding Puppet to the list till the end of 2016 but let's see how much air will RH exams suck out of me.
