Time to recertify

Hi
Just failed 640-554 which was meant to renew my CCNA.

It was a dog of a test, full of topics that I didn't dedicate enough time to, and some that weren't in the OSG. I also didn't study very systematically due to work and family commitments.

Ego has taken a huge hit and I've hit the alcohol in despair, but what to do, get up start from CCNA R&S again. I've had a quick look at the 200-120 guide, and it looks a lot harder than the old 640-802.

If you have enough time, you could also recertify by passing a CCNP exam - ROUTE, SWITCH, or TSHOOT.

    Security: CCNA [ ]
    Virtualization: VCA-DCV [ ]

Shouldn't ever underestimate exams...especially Cisco exams.

I've heard CCDA is the easiest way to recertify but I have not taken the test.

The 640-864 exam is, but he can take the new CCDA exam anytime he'd like.

No, its too late, my CCNA lapsed a day after I failed the 640-554 exam.

I thought that might be the case. Depending on what you are interested in, you could do one of the other CCNAs. So, CCENT and then one exam for CCNA Security, or CCNA Wireless, or CCDA. The CCNA bit would get you through HR filters, and if you interview and they ask about it, you can say that your CCNA R+S lapsed.

    Ah...
    Yep, you are correct.

I guess i just meant that the 640-864 "may" have been pretty easy.... but the new version is unknown.
Maybe its tougher, Easier,... or the same.
(im not even sure if the new course book is out yet?).

As for starting over... Octal might be right.
Get the ccent, then do any 2nd part (maybe go for the Design).
Cisco will still recognize you as a CCNA.

So you can still put it on your resume... and its NOT a lie :]
    (HR doesn't know the difference)

And for what its worth... the CCENT exam/topics was somewhat easy:

    Hope that helps!

my CCNA and CCNA Security are set to expire. I was going to try a CCNP test or CCNA Wireless, but I think in the interest of time, i will just redo my CCNA Security

I think you have to do the CCNA: R&S again (both exams or the composite)
