Xengoreth's WGU BSIT - Sec Thread

It looks like WGU coughed up my evaluated transcripts, which seem to all be in order except for one minor issue.
As we all know, Pearson Vue was recently hacked and the Cisco Certificate Tracking System is currently not getting updates and only has a history back beyond 13-Nov-2016. I passed the ICND1 on 25-Nov-2016, but have no way of publishing my credentials to WGU until Pearson Vue finishes their investigation, fixes the security issues, and finishes synchronizing the data.
I do, however, have my score report, which Cisco claims is sufficient to prove I have passed. Has anyone been in a similar situation? I don't want to be stuck having to retake the ICND1 to satisfy WGU's requirements, since Cisco's retake policy states that you must wait 180 days to retake a test you have already passed.
The tentative start date will be 01-Jan-2016 for the BS:IT - Sec. Anyhow, onto the remaining requirements (71
Competency Units):
C132 - Elements of Effective Communication
C182 - Introduction to IT
C393 - IT Foundations
C394 - IT Applications
C376 - Web Development Fundamentals
C175 - Data Management - Foundations
C170 - Data Management - Applications
C176 - Business of IT - Project Management
C179 - Business of IT - Applications
C480 - Networks
C697 - Operating Systems I
C698 - Operating Systems II
C247 - Interconnecting Network Devices
C299 - Designing Customized Security
C484 - Organizational Behavior and Leadership
C483 - Principles of Management
C435 - Technical Writing
C436 - IT Capstone Written Project
The above list is somewhat daunting, but hopefully I can finish in a year. I'm married and have a fulltime job but no kids. I'd like to try and dedicate around 10-15 hours a week after work on weekdays and full 8-10 hour day on each weekend to accomplish this. The other day will be dedicated to leisure and family activities. With my seventeen years of experience, I'd like to think this is a reasonable goal.

gespenstern Member Posts: 1,243 ■■■■■■■■□□77 isn't bad. With all my certs I managed to waive less and had 85 cu to go. Don't know how you manage, but for me it was pretty frustrating to do assessments on courses such as "Intro to IT" and "IT Fundamentals".

bpenn Member Posts: 499I found the hardest classes for me (IT Security) were the programming and database classes (Java and SQL). I just loathe all aspects of it. I am still in Java but almost done. Feel free to message me when you get to that point and I can offer some good tips on how to get through it."If your dreams dont scare you - they ain't big enough" - Life of Dillon

xengoreth Member Posts: 117 ■■■□□□□□□□I'm not impressed so far. I'm still waiting on an admissions decision and the latest transcript evaluation still didn't include my CCENT despite all of the documentation I've sent them. The enrollment counselor told me that he had talked to the transcript folks about the CCENT and that everything was good to go.
At this point, I'd imagine I'm not getting in for 01-Jan-2016. This is wasting valuable time that I could be using to actually work on something. I'm about to scrap the whole plan since and just work on certificiations. I'll try to talk to the enrollment counselor tonight but unless he comes through for me this time, I'm not sure I want to continue investing my effort.2018 Goals: CCNP R/S, VCP6-NV -

I would keep pressing on it so you get as many transfer credits as possible. You might want to talk to another person within admissions if you haven't already. It might help assess the issues you are having.*Associate's of Applied Sciences degree in Information Technology-Network Systems Administration

xengoreth Member Posts: 117 ■■■□□□□□□□The orientation has been completed. I will be pushing to do the ICND2 as my first class (or at least sometime in January) due to work requirements and hopefully the Linux+ soon after that. The EC said this would likely be fine but I'd have to talk to my student mentor. However, I'm waiting for my student mentor to be assigned. Is the general consensus that one is allowed to complete courses out of prescribed order?
It seems I can take pre-assessments and get to the study materials for any of my courses. I plan to use the next two and half weeks to get ready for the first few courses even though I don't officially start until the first.2018 Goals: CCNP R/S, VCP6-NV -

You can take any class material the day you start. If I were to guess your mentor might be weary to have you do CCNA right off the bat. However, you could work on the material and when it comes to for the final assessment have them quick add you to take it.These articles and posts are my own opinion and do not reflect the view of my employer.

xengoreth Member Posts: 117 ■■■□□□□□□□I took the pre-assessment for C182 cold tonight. Despite the vague and generalized nature of the questions, I managed to get a 90%. I am researching which other courses I want to spend an attempt on between now and 01-Jan-2016 that fit the bill for limited or no study.
Currently, I haven't heard a word from my student mentor yet. This is probably not unexpected, due to the holidays and the weather!2018 Goals: CCNP R/S, VCP6-NV -
bermovick Member Posts: 1,135 ■■■■□□□□□□Daang Xeno! I only got a 75% on that one! Nice job!
I'm doing the same thing though; between that and C463 I could feasibly knock off 7 CEU's on day 1
My enrollment person called yesterday and she said you won't hear from your student mentor until after the 22nd or 23rd as they don't get their list until about then.Latest Completed: CISSP

Thanks! Good info here, as well, regarding the mentors. You were spot on in your observation about the vagueness of the questions, by the way!

I've taken all the way through single-variable calculus, so all math was waived. I transferred in a huge number of credits, so I got out of most of the general education requirements.2018 Goals: CCNP R/S, VCP6-NV -
xengoreth Member Posts: 117 ■■■□□□□□□□I am working on the three following classes this term:
C182 - Introduction to IT: Assessment scheduled for 12-Jan-2016
C393 - IT Foundations: 60% done studying
C247 - Interconnecting Network Devices: 60% done studying
The ICND2 studies are a little slower than the other classes, as one might expect. I'm labbing the crap out of the ICND2 rather than using their prescribed materials, using real equipment and VIRL. However, the CBTNuggets videos seem to be pretty good.
I find alternating between multiple classes helps keeping me interested in the material.2018 Goals: CCNP R/S, VCP6-NV -
bermovick Member Posts: 1,135 ■■■■□□□□□□Nice progress Xeno! I'm looking to test out of C182 and C463 (Algebra) this weekend too once I get my camera and set it up. I agree that alternating between two classes seems helpful, but after I test out of those I have to get through Comp I (4 essays) and Communications (1 speech) before I can get any more interesting courses moved up.Latest Completed: CISSP
