Job Hunting

Anybody have any good tips for job hunting? Specifically out of state. I realize 90% of jobs are going through agencies but I never have any luck with recruiters.
My current environment is terrible. I work with another individual and we don't speak. He's constantly trying to make me feel stupid. For example, we sit 5 feet away and will email rather than speak. And before you say why don't you initiate the conversation, well I've tried but after getting stabbed in the back and thrown under several buses I'm done. It's to the point now where I can't work with the guy.

It's all about tailoring your CV. I work in digital security right now and when I applied here, my CV was tailored to security e.g certs, tools used etc. I've just been offered a digital forensics role and for that, my CV was tailored to my digital forensics knowledge, certs, degree etc. Hope this helps.
It sucks to work with someone like that. They don't sound like they're a team player. -

Chevel Member Posts: 211 ■■■□□□□□□□Nope I'm in the same boat as you. Tried many job sites, career builder, indeed, clearance jobs etc......nothing although every once in a while I'll get a recruiter contacting me about a "great" help desk position.
While my co-worker and I do somewhat get along it seems I'm not permitted to do anything without their approval. Plus they are a perfectionist and everything must be done as they see fit. Everything has to be looked over by this person or I'm interrogated about inane details and procedures ( to which I already know). Never worked with anyone like t.......needless to say its maddening they stress themselves out constantly, complaining that there's too much to do and why doesn't the company not follow suggestions they give. "What company operates this way and blah blah blah?" "We can't make mistakes it will come back and fire us." Just all sorts of nonsense. This is not a high priority environment we are just desktop support. However this person feels they need to be involved in every department. Reminding you they are not my manger they are the same as me.
As of late even assisting a customer has become an issue. Every time I tried to help a customer I'm bombarded with suggestions that I need to do resolve the issue. Without even given a chance to troubleshoot. Or I could be speaking with a customer and then all of sudden I'm being interrupted I was sent here to assist them but it appears they don't need it.....
Sorry to hijack but I needed to get that out...lol. It seems pointless to keep searching so I'm just going to continue to study until something comes my way. -

Background is Windows/VMware. Current certs include MCP, VCP5 & 6, CCNA. About 7 years of experience. Location is FL and I can't locate a job to save my life. I know my resume is good as I've had several people tell me so. I already have a LinkedIn and checking Indeed.
I'm very much open to relocation almost anywhere for a great opportunity. Very motivated to learn but this is going down each day I continue to work here as I'm not involved in anything and my co-worker is a jerk with the personality of a rock. -
