Hello Guru's
I work for a large IT company as a BCP, Security and Compliance Manager. I am also the ISM for my LOB.But this role is only at an operational level. By qualification I am an MBA and completed ITIL and Six Sigma certifications. My management has asked me to complete the CISSP certification. As a beginner I need the following information please -
1. How much time should I keep aside before I attempt the exam ?
2. What books should I buy to prepare ?
3. How do I register for the exam ? What is the frequency, duration and number of questions on the exams ?
4. Where do I get the list of topics from ?
5. What is the exams fees ? Do I get more then 1 exam attempts ?
6. Where do I register to practice the questions ?
Finally - with operational security experience is it a deep well that I am trying to jump into ?
Thank you very much. I have seen people so helpful here that's the reason I thought that I'll ask
Regards,
- Richard

The https://www.isc2.org/cissp-how-to-certify.aspx will answer most of your questions, .e.g exam outline, how to register for exam, exam format...
For what books to read and how much study time is required, do check out (ISC)² SSCP and CISSP Forums -

I think if you set a date and a dedicated study strategy, you should do fine. I recommend 8 weeks of gradually increasing study intensity. I also recommend multiple passes through the content, perhaps read an easier read first. For example, CISSP for Dummies is a semi-fun read. Sybex (Official ISC2 Study Guide) is more thorough. Good luck.
