Announcement today in regards to VCIX-6.

At this point, they are having update releases (This being the First).

https://blogs.vmware.com/education/2015/12/vcix6-certification-announcement-part-1-of-3.html

There is a road map outlined for December and January. So keep an eye out.

Time for me to get back into VMware again and reach that Goal.

Like someone said on Twitter, sanity's prevailed at VMware Education! This is exactly how the cert ladder should've been - makes the most sense, at least IMO.

Anyone interested in a study group for the VCIX exams? If there's enough interest, we'll start one when the beta period start dates have been announced.

I hope to pass the VCA5P-DCA in the next few months or so and then can work towards the VCAP6 Design when it becomes available.

Now if only it doesn't take a year for official study material to come out. VCP6-DCV will take until May but I might be interested in the study group. Depends on what my next position is or how long the MCSE takes to knock out.

Is there going to be a VCAP6-DCV? According to the roadmap it looks like VCIX is replacing them.

The 6 Design exam is all I'm going to need, bring it on! Although I don't know how I feel about VMware signing up for the beta in Jan...

I'm keen to join the study group at the same time. Found the vCAP lessons covered a fair bit of what was in the VCP5 exam. Particularly things such as ESXCLI.

Well it does look like there'll be VCAP exams:
For those of you with existing advanced certifications, the upgrade or migration paths will be the same as previously discussed:
    • From VCAP5 Design to VCIX6 → Earn the VCAP6 Deployment certification by passing the VCAP6 Deployment Exam (lab).
    • From VCAP5 Administration to VCIX6 → Earn the VCAP6 Design certification by passing the VCAP6 Design Exam.
    • From VCAP5 Administration and VCAP5 Design (both) to VCIX6 → Earn either the VCAP6 Design or the VCAP6 Deployment certification
    • From VCAP5 Administration to VCAP6 Deployment → Pass the VCAP6 Deployment Exam (lab)
    • From VCAP5 Design to VCAP6 Design → Pass the VCAP6 Design Exam

    NSX, NSX, more NSX..

Wouldn't mind giving the VCIX -Design Exam a shot,

whats the Recommend Training for this Cert ?

I have the ICM and Opt & Scale Fast Track done for the VCP6-DCV

Going on previous versions, none. However, VCP is a pre-req. Once you have the VCP, then you can run through some more reading and videos and then sit it once you're ready.

There were always going to be 2 exams, but just the 1 cert for passing both of them.

I think this is a great move - you should get cert recognition for passing either one of these - they're not easy!

Just hope they are moving the lab exams to local vCloud Air DCs soon, not sure I could handle another frustrating experience with the delays EU <> US

VCIX-NV has always run in OneCloud (the US-based vCloud Air forerunner), DCA now also runs there.

The datacenter it runs in unfortunately has pretty much no bearing on the performance.

The new exams will have the HTML5-based interface used by HandsOnLabs which should improve performance at high-latency sites and provide console access to all VMs plus allow for any local resolution instead of 1280x1024 fixed.

The performance in the DCA environment was horrid, horrid, horrid when I took it in 2012, good to hear they have addressed that.

I may look at tackling VCAP Deployment in about 12 months. Too many irons in the fire for the foreseeable future.
    IT guy since 12/00

Recent: 11/2019 - RHCSA (RHEL 7); 2/2019 - Updated VCP to 6.5 (just a few days before VMware discontinued the re-cert policy...)
    Working on: RHCE/Ansible
Future: Probably continued Red Hat Immersion, Possibly VCAP Design, or maybe a completely different path. Depends on job demands...

Hi folks, so I've created a Google study group for the VCIX exams. We'll go through the VCAP: DCV's first since they are the ones people are more likely to go for. In time, we can also work on the Desktop exams too if the demand's there.

    https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/vcix-6-study-group

PM me your email addresses and I'll add ya'll to the group. Group's open to all. Let's keep the group collaborative and I hope we can all learn something during the process. It's more about the journey than the destination.

Hell ya! Good idea, I signed up.

Working on CISSP and finishing WGU right now but I am interested in the VCAP Design exam when you get to it.

Good stuff @iBT! You'll knock out the CISSP in no time and I hope you get your degree soon.

Yeah I'm all for the Design exam too but I want to give back to the community and I think the Deployment exam prep is the one people would benefit from most (for now). I hope to wrap its blueprint up within 3 months and then get on with the Design one. Full steam ahead in January.

Is there any Official book set to be released for the Design 3V0-622 Exam and Deployment 623 Exam ?

would the VCAP5 DCD Book be any good for the VCAP6 ?
