Was looking at CBT nuggets videos for 70-697

Wow. Doesn't even seem like a desktop Cert! A lot of cloud and Sysadmin related stuff in it. Anyone else find that awesome? I wonder what that means for the future of desktop support.

Do the 70-685 if you want something masquerading as a desktop cert. Except in this one you just find out about it when you sit the exam that you're expected to know how to configure an entire network infrastructure, cause there's nothing like that on the objectives whatsoever. :')

Good thread. I am just starting studying for the 70-697 and hoped it would be different to Windows 7 and 8 and it looks that way.

I purchased a really good deal on Pluralsight annual subscription so I have started watching their 70-697 course. Then I will book another month or two subscription on CBT Nuggets to do the 99 videos (so far) 70-697 on there. James Conrad is really good so I am looking forward to doing that course.

Has anyone planned a date for 70-697 yet ? I've not heard anyone who has taken this exam yet ?

The above is about the beta experience. I sat in and somehow passed in the beta phase. It is more cloud than local OS orientated. I think measureup has some practise exams for it: Configuring Windows Devices
I cant comment on how good their practise exam is for this test.

Though this isn't related directly to the 70-697, I took the two Server 2012 R2 MCSE tests and those were hardly server tests at all. They tested almost entirely on the System Center suite. I've never seen anything like that before. They should just stop calling it an MCSE for Server 2012 and say that to get an MCSE you need an MCSA in Server 2012 and pass two tests on System Center. I guess I'm not surprised if the Desktop certs are going the same direction where they are Windows 10 certs in name only but actually test on entirely different technology.

I took the exam on 1/27. I had been studying for the CISSP exam and bought an early-expiry voucher on ITExamVouchers.com. I had 8 days to study [I hadn't really been looking at the material]. I used the Configuring Windows Devices by Bettany/Kellington, ITProTV videos and the Measure Up exam. I really only looked at the newer technologies and glossed over BitLocker and the basics. After about 5 questions, I knew I was sunk. I didn't study enough and the stuff I did study [Intune/Azure/Authentication], I didn't learn as well as I thought I did.

I failed with a 551 and deserved to. I figured my previous experience/knowledge with BitLocker from my Windows 7/8 exams would be retained and I would nail those parts. Wrong! I thought the exam was more fair to the candidate than the Windows 7 exam I took.

If you look at the objectives from the Bettany/Kellington book, you will be tested on almost of all of them. I'd make sure you understand the Office 365/BitLocker/Intune and Azure material. You WILL be tested on it. I thought the Measure Up material was pretty good and I didn't spend enough time on their objectives.

I'm headed back to my CISSP training and will take this exam, again, at a later time. I don't think this is a desktop exam but a Server Admin-type test. With that said, understand your objectives and take notes on your video training materials [if you use them]. The ITProTV vids were excellent if you are considering them. Usually, I use TestOut, learn the material, review for a few weeks and then take my exam. I let a cheap voucher entice me to take the exam and didn't do well at all. First exam I've failed. Good luck to anyone else attempting this exam!

Aah unlucky. Cheers for the info on the exam. I have the green book you are referring to. Problem I see is getting evaluations of Office 365, Azure and Intune. I've already wasted my 30 trial of Intune after ditching 70-688.
