Help: After Factory resetting my router and switch I cannot type shortcuts

Hello all, so my problem is that i can type in the console Switch(config)exit, and it takes me to privledge mode, however i cannot type the shortcut word "ex" i was able to do that before i factory reset both router and switch. I cant type any shortcuts which is weird.
