hi folks
I was reading thru the Cisco Press book ICND , i came thru OSPF and ven i read tht portion it has not been defined very elaborately as RIP and IGRP. and also it says that i shud refer to CCNP for further details, is it that OSPF details are not very imp from the CCNA point of view, there is just an introduction in the above specified book with some configuration(basic).

OSPF is very important -- but you're just seeing the tip of the OSPF iceberg when studying for the CCNA. Definitely want to pay attention. I think you only cover single area configurations in the CCNA, and then really see what OSPF is about when you do the multi-area configurations in BSCI for the CCNP.

OSPF is important for CCNA especially
* The purpose of using a hierarchical design in OSPF
* The way a rout is selected when using OSPF
* The advantages of using OSPF
* Commands issued when using OSPF
* The use of hello packets by OSPF
* etc

The chapter on OSPF and EIGRP is very brief in the ICND Cisco Press book. But there is an update available on:

Be sure to study this update!
Good luck.
