COMPTIA CEUs renewal date clarification
Although this likely applies to all CompTIA CE renewals, I literally just renewed my Security+ so I'll post here.
You have 3 years to gain 50 CEUs in total. You also have to pay the fees (currently $150). I was under the impression that the day you upload the 50th CEU is the start day for the next 3 years. This is WRONG.
Date I passed the Sec+: June 5 2013
Old expiration date: June 5 2016
Date I uploaded the 50th CEU: March 5 2016
New expiration date on the cert: June 5 2019.
Technically, I have 3 years and 3 months until expiration as of today. There is no need to try and time it as close as possible to the expiration date. Not sure about those who take the cert right near the beginning or end of the year since mine was conveniently right in the middle of the year.
BTW the date on the PDF for the cert instantly changed to reflect the 2019 June expiration.
Hope this info helps.
