I really like the book by Todd Lammle. Also, before you take the test, be sure you can do subnetting in your head. Here's a good practice page: subnettingquestions.com - Free Subnetting Questions and Answers Randomly Generated Online.

how hard did you find the exam and when did you do it?
    any other tips for me?

I think this is the new version of the book, but I would double check if I were you:

CCNA Routing and Switching Study Guide: Exams 100-101, 200-101, and 200-120: Todd Lammle: 9781118749616: Amazon.com: Books

I actually did the test in two segments. ICND1 (which gets you the CCENT) and then ICND2 (CCNA). While I had been in desktop support (at the time), I was new to networking and this was the best way to go for me. I did CCENT June 2012 and CCNA December 2012. I just recertified with CCNA Security this past December.

For me, the subnetting was the hardest wrap my brain around. I am not a math whiz, so it came down to a lot of memorization for me.

CCNA Sec was 640-554 when I took it 3 years ago and I used the OCG + CBT (along with hands on experience at the job).

    Good luck to you guys!

From what I've read in this forum the OCG doesn't cover all areas for the 210-260 exam nor does it provide enough material to pass the exam. Many have used it and failed miserably. Many in this forum also said that success can be had by using the following resources and taking this approach for self-study.

    1. Using the e-learning offered by Cisco. Implementing Cisco Network Security (IINS) v3.0.

    https://learningnetworkstore.cisco.com/ccna-security

    2. Supplement the e-learning course with the following 2 books.

CCNA Security Course Booklet Version 2, 9781587133510
CCNA Security Lab Manual Version 2, 9781587133503

The Implementing Cisco Network Security (IINS) v3.0 e-learning course costs $350 and the subscription lasts for 1 year. I was able to get is at a discounted price ($150) because my employer is a Cisco Premier Certified Partner.

Since February, I've been taking my time with studying this material and I plan to take the test in about 3 weeks. I will come back to verify if this approach is true.

Thinking of purchasing the INE IINS videos series for $79 from INE - I used their CCNA DC videos and they were very good and go that bit more than I think CBT do.

so far, the classroom version of the iins is good - one of the things that got to me was that some of the parts were optional even though they are on the exam, but i will go over them and revise them. the other sad thing is that cisco dont allow the labs to go over the week that the course is run, so i have to find other labs to do to make sure i am on point with it.

other day 2 of 5 is going ok.
when this is over, i will revise and plan a strategy of attack.

Finished the course - but the only down side is the labs that i cant access anymore, so i will have to find other ways of revising that content.
as well as revising in general.

But i would recommend the course!

also i have learned that this are good resources from CBT nuggets

    https://www.cbtnuggets.com/it-training/penetration-testing-backtrack-kali-linux/16?autostart=1&autonextcount=0

so far, gotta cherry pick what stuff i need as the 210 one doesnt go deep enough, but the 640 does!

So adding that to my little blog as i go - plus revising on the side using it too

So today I passed the Sec Exam - I felt so nervous beforehand though!

as a parting gift and for all those who i want to benefit from it, i made a google doc with all of the bullet points and my own notes in each bar section 7 - i will leave it open for anyone to finish that section :)

now i will see if i can get started on another cert soon (if my company will let me :) )

Thats awesome. Congratulations. You had originally mentioned that you would be taking a bootcamp. Can you please tell me with what training center did you take your training with? Thanks!

That is correct. Not sure how they justify that, must had a lot of people buying it before the jump? Kinda crazy though
