Tried it for a while, and going back to IT now. Eventually maybe I'll get to do both. Except for pluralized ladies. I'm a happily married family man now.
Maybe my wife will let me keep the guns, but definitely not the ladies. -

Nightflier101BL Member Posts: 134 ■■■□□□□□□□Well, I'm 34. My dream job was to fly Part 135 in the Pacific Northwest. I earned my Commercial pilot license, however, health issues put an end to my flying, for the most part.
When I switched to IT, I started as a PC Technician in a local government setting, getting extremely low pay and being taken advantage of. I told myself I just wanted to make decent living with reasonable pay, benefits and quality of life. After almost 3 years at the above job, I found another with a Fortune 500 making that decent living, doing what I love most, networking.
I'm not greedy and do not live above my means. I don't care if I never break six figures. It would be nice, don't get me wrong, but that's not what's most important to me. I'd be totally fine if this was all there was for me to see in IT, honestly. Out of high school, I worked construction for 12 years, in the elements, all over Northern Virginia, no benefits. I'm just grateful that I have an indoor job that I enjoy now. -
NetworkNewb Member Posts: 3,298 ■■■■■■■■■□Dream job is working part-time at golf course. Maybe 20 hours a week. I plan on being one of those old guys that checks people in at the first tee. Get outside, meet people, play some golf... I'm only 31 and probably 20+ years from that though. Guess I could do that now, but wife probably wouldn't be too fond of that idea. I like IT and it pays well, means to an end though!

tbgree00 Member Posts: 553 ■■■■□□□□□□Funny thing with me, my dream job is changing and evolving. IT is my dream and I'm starting to want to drift out of Engineering into Design. Once I landed a 90% VMware/10% hardware engineering job I started wonderlusting and looking at the next dream...I finally started that blog - www.thomgreene.com

I think this is a good thing though! Isn't a bad dream just wanting to continue your career and keep it interesting. Might as well enjoy what you do for a living if you have to do it every day.
