Can Anyone Recommend Any IDS Tools or Software?

Good Day,

I am wondering if anyone can direct me towards any IDS Tools or Software that could be downloaded
in order to help me further my skills in the Cyber Security Industry. I would really enjoy doing this
on my down time from work. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

I would recommend starting out with Snort - it is a pretty well known IDS and many small businesses deploy Snort in their network which can tie into many SIEM products out there.

Security Onion is another one. Completely free. Throw in the free Splunk and you are on the right track.

Snort is included in the Security Onion suite.
