Nice, congratulations! That reduced drive time is a major plus!

Nice! I think this position will be a big step in your career. You'll learn a lot but it will likely take months to get any comfort in the position. Don't get too comfortable though as your experience will be highly marketable and allow you to take many different paths.

You may want to take a look at wgu's vcp-dcv voucher soon. I think it's only good for a year. It will mean a lot with the experience you'll get and involves systems, networks, storage and security.

Definitely a big step. Still a little end-user stuff, but it's a VDI environment with thin/zero clients (which I'm of course familiar with working at VMware) so it's not like there's a ton of troubleshooting to be done there. I'm slightly nervous but overall really excited to be challenged and get a crap ton of experience.

I've never heard of WGU's VCP-DCV voucher. They just give it out for free to anyone enrolled? Is it VCP5 or VCP6?

Ahhh I didn't even know that. I just got it now. I'm studying for the CEH but I'll try to work the DCV into it within the next year. Thanks!

The VCP-DCV voucher allows you take the test without taking any courses or foundations, saving $1000's. It's VCP6 and the mastering VCP6 book was all I used. It's a relatively difficult test but the passing score is low which makes it easier.

I've got a VCP already, so I meet the requirements, but that's awesome they allow you to bypass the ICM and foundations.

Guess I shouldn't be surprised. We are each given a training budget to use while we're here and I was approved for a couple CEH books before I put in my notice and then I found out just now they cancelled it after I put in my notice. I thought with everything I went through they'd throw me a bone here at least, but clearly that's not the case.

Ahh, small potatoes. Remember you are going to a better place. I was going to ask if you put in your notice yet. Guess you did..

Yeah. I would have put it in earlier, but I got the offer letter too late Friday and Monday was a holiday, so put it in yesterday. I'm really struggling to fulfill this notice. 60-90 minutes each way is brutal. I'm almost tempted to tell them I'll only do it if I can work from home.

Right? New job said they'd take me the next day if I get fired. I won't have a vacation for a while so may just take a 4 day weekend.

Haha. I could just keep saying that every day for the next week. Not sure they'll put up a fight, especially being short staffed.

Most vehicles have four tires (or more), so that should get you by for a few days..

Just tell them you've been too busy working to get it fixed. How can they be mad about that? icon_lol.gif

    icon_lol.gif That's funny.

I think it'd almost be just less of a headache to get it all out there now and say, "Hey I want to work from home now until next Thursday. This commute sucks and I'm not really wanting to drive it anymore." If they have a problem with it then they can let me go.

Lol. So dumb. They wouldn't let me work from home so they'd rather me leave now. It wasn't an unreasonable request. Oh well, moving on up. icon_cheers.gif

Sounds like they are wholly unreasonable. I mean, if you can do your job from home, then why not just let you work your last days at home? Oh well, onward and upward!
