MBA complete May 14th

No_NerdNo_Nerd Banned Posts: 168
Well my MBA from the university of Hawaii will be complete May 14 2016.

All of my projects are finished just waiting on my final GPA report . At this point I could fail everything and still have a 3.0 so that is nice.

On a more somber note...

Wife left me.... with her boyfriend she had the entire time I was in grad school. So I will be looking for an entry job in Cyber security anywhere I can find one... to include IRAQ ..... Gotta move out of my house in 12 months but fortunately I have somewhere to stay and most bills are paid. Hard to take an entry job with an MBA but gotta do it ....

I will be attempting CISSP again soon ... just need a few months to get my mind right.

    Congrats!
One thing I always see is the higher the person goes in his career, the more they lose their significant other.
Im not sure if its because we lose time from the opposite sex. Look at steve jobs and musk. Both are divorce.
This happens a lot in the corporate world. Im sure youll find a better person.

Hawaii is a nice place. Too bad I couldnt find a job that will relocate me with the pay that i want.

Sorry to hear about your situation, but please don't let this diminish your great achievement. Your attitude is what matter in cases like this, and is what will keep you moving forward. Something that helped me in the past is to just take things one day at a time, slowly, while giving yourself plenty of time to heal. Don't rush it, and keep looking ahead. Cheers.

Yes then gym is great. I. Face the club. Here gave me 2 months free to help with my stress level.

To hard to find a job out here so I am excited about moving to thescorte mainland. Good thing is moving will be easy most everything belongs to her eheh pros and cons of marrying mega rich.

At this point I am not so upset about the marriage. It is annoying and embaraseing ....but not the end of the world. Just concerned with finding a job really want to go back and work in Iraq or Afghanistan because this divorce lawyer is gonna cost me a lot.

I am confident that once I find a nice job everything will be ok.

Sorry to hear about your wife... im in the same boat as you. Been married 3 years and now we are splitting up. So I know how you feel. Everything is going to work out and be ok. Just trust yourself and your abilities and you will be fine. Always remember there are plenty of fish in the sea... you will find the right one eventually....

Maybe look to arbitration if you just want it over with. My buddy is currently doing that with his ex (given they both make really good money and their careers took off at the same time). It has proven to be cheaper and easier especially since both parties are ready to move on. If that is similar to your situation it might be worth looking into.

Have you looked at contracting in Hawaii? I have a cousin who is making a killing as a contractor there and I know he definitely doesn't have a graduate degree (I actually think he might not have an undergrad degree either, but not positive).

Dude understand the situation went to work at FEMA and while I was deployed out my wife at the time took off. Left me broke and sold everything I owned. Hit you up on PM and gave you some contacts for jobs.

    So,

Yes I have looked at contracts here

My soon to b X wife is quite powerful and well connected here. So it is best I move . Also I don't want to attend the same social events etc.. or be the subject of whispering or pity. Trust me ... when your dry cleaner and mail man know what is going on it is not to nice.

Looking forward to getting something..... but I think I need CISSP to make any headway...

I am reaching out to a few spots on island but am unattractive to any HP contract on island ( which means 90% of military jobs) gonna see if I can talk to the lady in charge directly and just beg for a job. but I am looking to move to be honest.

at this point I am just happy I never let my wife buy me a g-wagon .... I would be up the creek if I had to pay for that myself.

Congrats on the MBA, and for the personal issue - move on and start over, reflect and learn from the experience. You have your whole life ahead of you and you will forget all about this in no time.

@NOC-Ninja: yes people who focus only on career tend to ignore personal development sometimes. But even people who don't focus on career have problems too. Divorce rate is an indicator.

Never been one to put crazy feel bad for me stories online ( have allays been to proud for that) but I do appreciate everyone. Just looking out at the ocean this morning and taking a deep breath helped to kinda put things into perspective. I will continue to update everyone on the job search

Well Ladies and Gents.... still cranking along with the job search. focusing on NOC/SOC positions anywhere in the U.S. as well as overseas contracts. Life is decent (who can complain to much with an ocean view and food in the fridge) Looking forward to leaving Hawaii behind that is for sure. Cheers...

Congratulations on your MBA, sorry about the marriage situation. Some of us have gone through that too. Just keep your head up, hit the gym like it was mentioned and move to another area which you are already pursuing. Theres many companies in the states that will give you an opportunity and not just for an entry level job. Don't settle for entry level, especially now that you have your MBA.

It seems I have having a hard time finding those spots. Good thing is I just developed a great routine

5:30 am-11:00 wake up and job search prep resumes etc..

    11:30 head to gym

    1:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Back home for CISSP prep
    5 PM onward free

Perhaps Once I knock out CISSP I will be OK . Just now getting motivated again to open the book and hit it hard.

Congrats! I know you mentioned you were looking forward to leaving the island, but it sounds like you got a great position getting marketable experience, good pay, and re-activated clearance.

Assuming you mean NGEN contracts, how come you wanted to avoid HPE? --if you don't mind me asking. Also, where is there a NOC in Honolulu? Manteh + NOC I would have guessed Ford Island.

Not necessarly me avoiding them but. More them avoiding me.

Hp head for hawaii told me i was " not a good fit for the islands" or something to that point. I feel blessed to be given the chance to work with ManTech... I hope the contract turns into a long learning experience.
