So many questions. How are they sharing content? What sort of encryption (if any) is in place? Any perimeter defenses? Which ports are they exposing? Server by the window? Hello physical security! And connectivity... where's the AP?

Here's the link to the book: http://www.amazon.com/Mommy-Why-There-Server-House/dp/160530641X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1463705003&sr=8-1&keywords=mommy+why+is+there+a+server+in+the+house

There is no copyright for this book which is why I could take pictures and post it here. It was given out at Microsoft conference as a marketing tool.

I remember that book. It came out when Windows Home Server (such a great OS) and HP were marketing HP's small footprint home server. Those things had a lot of potential....

    Worth it! icon_study.gif

Got the following email from Amazon today... Disappointment does yet begin to describe my emotions! crash.gif

We're writing to inform you that your order has been canceled. We're sorry for the inconvenience this has caused. In most cases, you pay for items when we ship them to you, so you won't be charged for items that are canceled.

    Cancel Reason: Technical Problem

Just tried ordering it again from another seller, hopefully this one goes through!
Just tried ordering it again from another seller, hopefully this one goes through!

FFS!! Really?!?! Just got this email about this order:

We recently received your order for "Mommy, Why is There a Server in the House? [Paperback] [2007] Tom O'Connor; Jill Dubin", I'm afraid while attempting to process your order, our shipping staff noticed that the item did not meet our quality standards. The damage was severe enough that the item had to be recycled and is no longer available to ship. I have checked our inventory in hopes of finding another copy of "Mommy, Why is There a Server in the House? [Paperback] [2007] Tom O'Connor; Jill Dubin", but have had no luck. Unfortunately, there is not another course of action to take at this time but to cancel and issue a full refund for this title (the refund will include all shipping fees).

Certain open source advocates are very unhappy that home server isn't running a linux distro...

Yeah I remember this book back when it came out. I bought an HP Home Server back then. It was also when I learned that RAID is not a backup solution, the OS died and I lost my files.
