I'm in the Philadelphia area so I see tons of jobs with Comcast. Can anyone tell me their experience working with Comcast in a NOC/XOC/Engineering? I got contacted for a XOC Tech job and want some opinions. Would this be a good job for getting experience with networking? The job description is very vague although it does say cisco/juniper certs are preferred.

If you want routing and switching experience you probably be working on one of the largest networks in the world. Being 24-7-365 you will probably have to work a bad shift for a year but you would have all kinds of growth opportunities in a company like that.

There's a few different XOC positions and it could definitely be a stepping stone towards some really great engineering jobs. There are engineering jobs in the philly area posted every single day but these are mostly for southern NJ and Philly. The XOC resides in Delaware, New Castle area I think?

mgmguy1 Member Posts: 485 ■■■■□□□□□□I recently applied for a Comcast Application Support Specialist position. I am trying to get out of Customer Service Technical Tier 1 support and do more troubleshooting and gain some experience in something other then the tools I use now. My Company moved our Tier 2 department to Georgia so not many opportunities to advance at my current employer. I hope this works out."A lot of fellows nowadays have a B.A., M.D., or Ph.D. Unfortunately, they don't have a J.O.B."
