CCNA Security vs CCNA Cyber Ops

Thoughts on this new cert path Cisco is introducing, and how it affects the CCNA Security. There seems to be a lot of overlap between course topics. Wondering what they are going after with the two paths, and how that affects the value of one or the other.

Think its kind of interesting, guessing it is alot like the CCNA Security but takes out the ASA configuration part? Looks kind of like a general Networking Security certification. Hard to tell though since the Exam Topics really don't go into detail.

It will be interesting to see what the exam will be like. I would look at it, but my plate is already full.

From what I can gather the CCNA Security will be aimed more towards network administrators / firewall administrators while the Cyber Ops seems (from the marketing) aimed more towards an entry level analyst in a SOC.

I suppose we will learn more after the exam comes out.

Based on the FAQ it appears you don't need to be a CCNA in order to obtain this certification. Looks pretty interesting to me and Cisco is offering scholarships to cover the training and certification.

Did you try applying for the scholarship? Cisco site doesn't state if it will require us to attend the class daily or it can be accomplished on our own pace as long as we finish it within 3mos.

The path is interesting and we will see how it plays out. The cyber ops is more like a SOC Analyst type role and the Security is the engineering side... Both have their place.

This actually looks interesting. I assume this will all be centered on Cisco technology. If you're lucky they will release books for exam. I doubt it though.

Anyone knows what's the minimum score to pass or at least to be considered as qualified for the scholarship?

I've completed the assessment. There is another thread on TechExams that discusses the scholarship and a few interesting points were made there. It's speculation on my end, but I feel like in terms of an ideal score, there's probably a sweet spot between not having so much knowledge that you would be comfortable paying for the exam yourself, but also need enough improvement so that the training looks effective. I scored in the mid-80's IIRC and hopefully that's what they're looking for.

I got a tad over 80s too, with the same way of thinking, that they would look for someone that has enough knowledge on the subject, but also still has room for improvement. But, I don't know.
Then again, I'm still a noob in this field as a whole, so..yeah.

Since CCNA isn't required for Cyberops, but it is required for CCNA Security, would it be safe to assume that Cyberops is a less technically oriented cert?

Appears to be a **** site to me. It's listed as a new site on certguard.com, therefore doesn't have a rating. I wouldn't use it, nor would I tell anyone else to use it.
