I have a guy that has some network plus study books and cd from 2001 is that to old and what's new on the test

Ummmm no don't use those materials from 2001 you will most likely fail! If you are on a really tight budget, you could get by with a N10-005 book and fill in the gaps of the new updated objectives. But in reality, you can go on Amazon and get yourself an ExamCram Network+ N10-006 book for like $25-30 bucks.

You definitely want something more current. That's 15 years ago and a lot of the skills covered in the current exam will have changed since then.All the best,
