Security jobs open at the State of Texas

These jobs are located in Austin. Being state jobs, the pay is not as good that of the corporate world. Also, I have nothing to do with the selection/hiring, so please don't contact me about these positions. You will have to go through the state's application process. They also do not pay for relocation or travel to and from the interview.

I've worked in both the corporate world and for government. Personally, I prefer working for the government. Low pressure, never had to work overtime. YMMV

Thanks for this. My sister keeps trying to get my family to move to Austin, I'll take a look around at the openings.

I did a search yesterday on the Texas Workforce Commission site yesterday for Information Technology Security Analyst and found several more jobs. Sometimes they also post these types of jobs as systems analyst. The state has also recently introduced the Cyber Security Analyst title, which is designed to replace IT Security Analyst.

Good luck! Salaries are going up. There's a shortage of qualified security personnel in Texas state government.

My agency just posted a job today:
    Cyber Security Analyst I (0603-16)

You can live quite well in Austin on this pay. The state does not accept resumes. The above link contains application information.

We've been having issues getting the people hired for private sector jobs up in DFW, so I fixed that for you.

Phoenix here. We can't find *anybody*. Well no, that's not entirely true. We get people with CISSPs by the handful. Unfortunately when we bring them in for a technical exam not a single one can pass it with more than a 10%. We're not asking for a lot, either, just the general gamut of security stuff, anybody in the field long enough to have the experience necessary to get their CISSP should have no issues, but they can't seem to muster up.

We did finally have two applicants out of our very last batch of resumes (posting for over a month) that we brought in who were able to pass the written. But jeebus.
