MCSA SQL 2016 Changes

It seems that Microsoft has changed the format of the MCSA for the SQL path for 2016. The SQL 2016 MCSA is now broken into three parts MCSA: SQL 2016 Database Development, MCSA: SQL 2016 Database Administration, and MCSA: SQL 2016 Business Intelligence Development. Each MCSA now only requires two test instead of the three it took to receive the MCSA: SQL Server 2012/2014 certification.

MCSA: SQL Server 2012/2014
1. Querying Microsoft SQL Server 2012/2014 070-461
2. Administering Microsoft SQL Server 2012/2014 Databases 070-462
3. Implementing a Data Warehouse with Microsoft SQL Server 2012/2014 070-463

MCSA: SQL 2016 Database Development
1. Querying Data with Transact-SQL
2. Developing SQL Databases

MCSA: SQL 2016 Database Administration
1. Administering a SQL Database Infrastructure
2. Provisioning SQL Databases

MCSA: SQL 2016 Business Intelligence Development
1. Implementing a SQL Data Warehouse
2. Developing SQL Data Models

I might abandon my in progress MCSE Data Platform and go for the MCSA database development.

Is the Database Development track just the MCSD renamed? I think there was an MCSD for SQL a while back, before it went all Azure and Universal Platform.

It does seem to make a lot sense to divide them up, because this is often what happens in practice - someone designing models, someone provisioning servers and administering, and the BI thing is a whole other area.

@Octal look no further than here. 65% of my day is building SSAS models and mining structures another 10% is SSIS packages (You just don't have to build as many once you plan correctly) and the other part is 20%-25% writing SQL for whatever, building jobs ad hoc queries etc. With that said administration is not my thing nor do I want it to be so this new track gives me the ability to avoid 462. Just wanted reinforce your thoughts.

I've been patiently waiting to see if they are going to do a 2016 MCSE track, but so far, nothing published.
