in CCNA & CCENT
Hey all,
As of 7/19 I have my CCNA R&S out of the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now I am looking to move forward. I am currently looking into the new cisco cybersecurity ops scholarship (whenever that may start), but it looks like sometime in the winter. So in the meantime, I want to do something else....what do you guys suggest? I want to stay within cisco (for atleast the rest of the year b/c next year is Microsoft private cloud route). I was thinking the CCNA Security, but I hear that the cert don't get you much job or salary wise. I saw cisco has a cybersecurity specialist exam, but not too sure how much would that benefit me with my CCNA routing and switching. I would like to work in network security and then hopefully one day do security operations! I would think by taking the specialist exam, it would def look good along side my CCNA R&S cert in a interview. Also I do have hands on experience with security and also cisco equipment:
This is my path
Cisco:
CCENT > {X}
CCNA R&S > {X}
Microsoft (2017):
Private cloud route (windows 2012 server and then onto the cloud section)

I am taking the CCNA cyber ops as well whenever they release the scholarship for it! In the meantime, I want to do another cert, but stuck between if I should go for CCNA security or Security+. I want to get into security BAD! So I'm thinking if I get the Security+ and have my CCNA R&S, it might land me a good job in NYC once I move. -
danny069 Member Posts: 1,025 ■■■■□□□□□□Security+ is more recognizable than the CCNA Security cert (with no disrespect to the CCNA Security cert) it's just the way it is currently. So you definitely want to make yourself more marketable, especially in NYC, where it is super competitive.I am a Jack of all trades, Master of None

ichasedreamz Member Posts: 8 ■□□□□□□□□□well there goes my answer !!! I was thinking that too b/c I am in the process of looking for a job now since I plan to move sometime in the next couple months to the area and see a lot of security jobs, but then I see DOD has security jobs as well. So I think i'm going to def go for the security+ and then do the cybersecurity ops whenever they release it with the scholarship...2017...MICROSOFT PRIVATE CLOUD ROUTE !
