icon_sad.gif Ok people my appologies for this question but you know those days when your brain just refuses to go into gear?? I`m having one of those days!!!

Here goes.

I have 2 pc`s, 1 called Work pc and the other called Home pc.
I have installed a Linksys Wireless Router of which both pc`s are connected to.
I can ping the Work pc from the Home pc but cannot ping the other way!!
Both are in the same workgroup and both can see the default gateway!!
Why cant these pc`s see eachother??

Once again i should know this but my brain just cant see it!!!!!!

Have you done a tracert to see where the pings are dropping?
What is the IP address scheme you are using?
Are you pinging by IP or hostname?
Can you ping anything from that computer?
    What OS are you running.

lol Ping by Ip good one :D

Using Tracert gives me the same result as ping.
i can still only ping one way using names.
Both machines are using the same Subnet Mask.
Both machines have the same Default Gateway address
Both machines have the same workgroup name
Both machines are turned On ( just incase someone asks! lol)

so...what about the pinging by IP?

Have you tried looking in your My Network Places on the work pc to see if it can find the home pc?

Try pinging by IP (Been said twice but maybe not clear enough).

Try making sure your file and print sharing is turned on in the network card settings of the home pc. Shouldn't matter for pinging but I've seen it cause weird problems before.

Try Tracert by IP. Then by host name. Is there a difference in how far one gets versus the other.

Dig into the settings on the router for possible filters/blocks.

Double check all addresses and names.

    Good luck
