Nice! I'm enrolled in their ICM course that also starts next week. Please let us know how O&S goes. Definitely interested in checking it out in the future.

This is sweet. I'm glad they upgraded the tracks at the college.

I am in the O&S class for next week too. Also, I ordered the printed book; too bad shipping charges are a lot but the class is a great offer by Stanly. I am very excited to get started. Probably I will order the Mastering Book from Amazon as a reference.

I enrolled in the class as well and am looking forward to it. Though the timing is rough starting a week before VMworld. =/

As a reminder Stanly Community College is an authorized VMware IT Academy, the courses we offer meet the education portion of the VM certification. However, we can offer the VMware courses only to individuals and not as part of corporate training.

Not aware of this course from Stanly CC. I added my name in the waitlist.

How much is the course fee?

Which VMware cert. does the O&S class relate to? I took the 5.5 ICM this year and plan to take the VMware test soon.

So both classes fall under the scope of the same VCP6-DCV exam? Is O&S just more advanced than ICM?

Yes, The old O&S was recommended for the VCAP5-DCA exam.

VCP6 generation certs are made up of 2 exams - a common vSphere Foundations exam (which the vSphere 6 ICM class is recommended for), then an exam specific to that solution area.

So for VCP6-DCV, there's the ICM class recommended for vSphere Foundations, then O&S recommended for the specific DCV exam.

Does anyone have a Stanly Optimize and Scale book they would sell me? I'm scheduled to take the class Oct 25th.

Did you find the book helpful or not necessary?

    Thanks

Do I need to complete the course before attempting the exam? I thought I saw a change in policy, correct me if I'm wrong but I could do them in any order and so long as it was within six months or a year it counted.

    Thanks.

I'm in the October class. I flunked out on renewing my VCP. icon_sad.gif

Technically, you can do the training, the foundations exam, and the VCP exam in any order you like, over whatever timeframe you choose - so long as all the elements remain available. This is certainly the case when you take the training direct with VMware, or through a VATC partner.

But, as Stanly is a VITA and not a VATC, the restriction you face relates to exam vouchers - Stanly will issue them to you when you finish their course, and you have to use their vouchers to book the exams.

If you pay for the exams independently, and then take the Stanly course, VMware have no way of knowing that those things were done by the same person.

I just checked on Stanly and could not find that course. My guess is its expired. Anyone know when will be the next one?
I put myself of a waiting list for this course, I am wondering is there is any mailing list that will periodically email you about new courses that are happening.

Makes sense. How about if I took the VCP-DTM on my own, and usd the voucher from Stanly for the DCV, as it is intended?

I'm not sure about that - Stanly would know: http://www.techexams.net/members/stanly_cc.html

Please feel free to contact me either by a private message here or by email at slewis8950@stanly.edu. We just added a lot of new courses to our spring schedule. However, due to the waitlist for VMware these are not published on our website.
