Passed SY0-401
Jimehboo
Passed today with a 831 and thought I would share my experience.
Background:
- I have been working in IT for a few years.
- Just recently passed ICND2 to obtain my CCNA in July.
- Because my Net+ was set to expire on Aug 23rd, I rushed and and studied for about 30 days, two hours a night.
Resources:
- Gibson's Book
- Prof. Messer's videos as needed (I did not watch them all)
- Boson's ExSim-Max for CompTIA Security+ SY0-401
Study Experience:
- I found Gibson's book decent. Since the chapters are long I recommend breaking them up into shorter study sessions. The practice questions were good.
- I used Boson mainly because of past experiences. I found them to be crucial in helping me fill in the gaps for my CCNA prep.
- For Sec+ I noticed Boson referenced Mike Meyers' CompTIA Security+ Certification Guide which seemed to word descriptions of certain topics differently.
Test Experience:
- I read some of the other post and would agree that this test can make you feel insecure about your answers.
- I honestly didn't know if I was going to pass or fail until I saw the score.
- I recommend if you are taking this test to stay positive throughout the test.
- Use flagging as a way to come back to it later so you don't get overwhelmed.
- Keep a steady pace, I had to use all the time allotted. I ran out of time when reviewing my flagged questions.
Good luck to anyone taking this test.
